Sunil Narine waited for four long years before making his debut for the Kolkata Knight Riders for which he has to thank his Caribbean mate Kemar Roach who pulled out of the tournament due to a last-minute injury. He began opening the bowling for the franchise and tasted immediate success as a mystery bowler. However, issues related to his bowling arm left Narine in the lurch for a while and ever since he returned, the spinner hasn’t really mystified batsmen. What he did though was to play the pinch-hitter’s role for KKR while opening the batting. He’s played 98 matches in the IPL (all for the same team), picking up 112 wickets and scoring 628 runs.
