Chahal & Kuldeep Display Bromance on Social Media After Series Win
New Delhi: India’s wrist spin duo of Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav are on a high after helping the visitors register their first ODI bilateral series win over South Africa in the Rainbow Nation. And Chahal has gone ahead and rechristened Kuldeep and himself as Kul and Cha which turns to Kulcha — a form of flat bread eaten mostly in Northern India for breakfast or as light snacks.
Taking to Twitter, Chahal wrote: “Kul and Cha are feeling good after wrapping up the series and making history. Wishing everyone a Happy Valentine's day #kulcha #bromance #indvssa #30andcounting #spintwins”
Chahal also took the opportunity to wish everyone a happy Valentine’s Day. It was a clinical effort from the Indians on Tuesday as they also went ahead to win their first ODI against South Africa at Port Elizabeth after losing the previous four games to the hosts.
It was an all too familiar script for South Africa as Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal again spun a web after Rohit Sharma’s sensational ton as India defeated South Africa by 73 runs in the 5th ODI in Port Elizabeth and sealed the 6-match series with one game to go.
The 4-1 lead in the six-game ODI series against South Africa has ensured that India cemented its position at the top of the latest ICC ODI Rankings for teams.
India came into the series needing to win the series 4-2 to claim the top spot and the 4-1 lead ensured that even if the Proteas win the final game, Virat Kohli and boys will remain at the top.
India skipper Virat Kohli was at his expressive best when the visitors took the field on Tuesday and he wasn’t done even after the boys put up a clinical show to take the game and with it the ODI series. Speaking at the end of the game, Kohli said that the boys weren’t even thinking of putting the foot off the pedal and this team wants to make it 5-1.
Excited at having become the first Indian team to register a bilateral ODI series win over the Proteas in the Rainbow Nation, Kohli said: “Very pleased. Another convincing win for us and I thought the guys really got stuck in, with the bat, with the ball and on the field as well. It was a complete performance from us which was important to put together after the last game. Only one team had the pressure of losing the series right from the start and that was South Africa. We knew that a few mistakes and we'd be right back in the game. Right from the third Test in Jo'burg it has been a great time for us. We've been playing some really good cricket and it has been a collective effort from the team-mates, the support staff and everybody; feels wonderful to be 4-1 up.
“When three guys at the top are playing well and scoring consistently, every now and then you get an opportunity where you might not click, and when this series is wrapped up we'll look to think about what we can do to improve and strengthen as we move forward. Every team has a vision of the 2019 World Cup and that's what we need to plan for, but for now 4-1 seems great and we'll look to wrap it up well. We want to win 5-1 for sure, that doesn't change, but there'll be a chance for others to step in as well. The first priority is to win and we'll do anything to do that again.”
